All That's Left of Us - Jeff
Berry Band
Here's
something you don't see everyday. All That's Left of Us is an entire
CD of very well done contemporary Christian music. Listening to
it you forget that it's Christian music. Any of these songs could
be a hit on a pop radio station. They're catchy, well played, and
well sung. I was dancing to it. On second pass you realize
how well written and powerful the lyrics are. For example, Berry
explains "The title comes from the lyrics of "Fade" (track
8). There's a verse that says, ' let the darkness fade
away/ let the night return to day/ till all that's left of us is
You.' True worship happens when everything else fades away.
When we get out of the way, and replace 'us' with God."
Jeff Berry is the
contemporary worship leader at The Heights Baptist Church in
Richardson, Texas. After teaching economics and management for
four years at Baylor University, Berry went on to found CrossWind
Ministries in 1995; comprised of Jeff Berry Worship Ministry, Curiously
Strong Music Publishing, and Reality Weekends, an intensive
discipleship weekend for youth. All
That's Left of Us is the sixth album of the Jeff Berry Band
under the CrossWind label. The Jeff Berry Band has also played at
several youth camps, a Youth Evangelism Conference at Reunion Arena and
gone as far as Turkey to spread the word through their music.
