Gregg Martinez - Bring Down the Thunder
 thunder
Believe it or not this one is R&B gospel music, and very good R&B gospel music at that.  Yeah, I didn't guess it from the cover either.  Gregg Martinez has been a Christian artist since 1989 after a spiritual reawakening with his main goal being to impact the lives of younger generations.  Bring Down the Thunder is his seventh Christian album and consists of R&B gospel songs he grew up hearing as a child in Louisiana.  Some of the songs are definitely more gospel, but most are just good old R&B.  You wouldn't even know it was Christian music without listening to the lyrics, you know....like Jars of Clay's "Flood".  In fact he has shared a stage with Jars of Clay as well as with Stevie Wonder and BTO.  The 12 piece horn band called The Rolling Thunder that backs him are as outstanding as his vocals.  You really can't help but dance.  This would be a great album for a church youth function as background music, but you really owe it to yourself to listen to his lyrics at least once.  You may have a spiritual reawakening yourself.
