Live Review Bugs Henderson
The legendary Bugs Henderson played in a road house off Henderson
called J&J 'S . The show was more along
the lines of some of the of the old time great music
get togethers like the "Texas Jams " and the "Spring Creek
Fests" and the "Grapevine Lake Summer Jams "
but I am not sure that the Grapevine James were an
organized event or more of a happening? And that is what
might have happened the other night when Bugs played at the Road
House. He and the band were wailing away putting on one hell of a
show during the first set .
Then
a very large crowd of very young Blues fans flooded the bar.
From
my table I could not see all of the bar well at all and even less of
the stage as the band
went on stage for the second set.. After a couple of songs ,
Bugs told a joke about a
place in OK called the Pump House the crowd soon
joined in on the banter and the second set turned into some
really good stand up with an occasional musical interlude. A true
entertainer going with the flow working the crowd and giving them
what they wanted.
It was exciting to watch
a true master at work.
