CD Review Chidied, demo

Shooting stars can be such a tremendous sight, especially on a clear Texas night. To the naked eye, they can be serene displays of nature and beauty. But to the one who looks closer and digs deeper, those stars are actually meteors, carriers of a chaotic fury, ready to collide and destroy. It’s a balance of something beautiful and something on the brink of mass destruction.

With that picture in mind, blend the aggressive tones and full-on assault of metal and hard-core. Add dashes of hard-rock and punk and a splash of new wave and you’ll find yourself describing our band, CHIDIED (pronounced “she died”)

Through the means of modern technology (the internet), 5 individuals came together in Dallas, Texas ready to mark their territory in the Dallas-Ft Worth rock scene, having already played such landmark venues such as Trees, The Curtain Club, Club Indigo and Club Clearview. Our influences can range from the Deftones and Poison the Well  to Slayer and Killswitch Engage. Our intent as a band is not only to bring a sonic pleasantry to your ears but also to bring about something new and refreshing to hard music today.

Ultimately, we want you to experience us in every sense. Every note and chorus sung and every ounce of energy and intensity that we bring to the stage. We want you to know that these shooting stars are ready to burn bright and shine for a long time.

Without all of the gushiness put into a self-description by someone who has put their heart and soul into their work, I would have to say the same thing. That sums it up pretty good- the music is hard and riffing, with growling lyrics and melodic sections. The music has almost magical qualities- with actual singing and skilled musicianship as well as the usual roar and bang denoted to most modern rock/metal bands. I wish I could tell you more about their music, but the demo is only two songs (available for download at http://www.chidiedmusic.com/music.html):
"Enemies Are Prettier"
and
"Traffic In Honduras"
(how they came up with these names, I have no idea.)

Chidied is:
jerry rojas-vocals
jonpaul barnes-bass

neal colley-guitars
isadore martinez-drums

For quality musicianship and raging lyrics, AND putting their heart and soul into their music, I give Chidied's two-song demo a *** (out of 4).
