CANADIAN RAGWEED SHATTERS ATTENDANCE RECORD AT DALLAS’ LONE STAR PARK

June 23, 2005 – Country rockers Cross
Canadian Ragweed drew a record crowd of 23,656 fans to their post-race
concert at Dallas’ Lone Star Park Friday night, topping the former
attendance record set by Willie Nelson in 2002, and also surpassing the
venue’s sales numbers for the Beach Boys and Texas favorites Pat Green
and Charlie Robison.
Traffic
stretched for miles outside the venue as loyal fans waited for hours to
see Ragweed, a band widely renowned for its electrifying, hard-driving
live set. The band’s own tour bus hit the unexpected traffic, hours
before the show, and had to be extracted from the gridlock and guided
to the venue by police escort.
Cross
Canadian Ragweed hit the stage at 11:00 PM for a 2 ½ hour
high-octane set that had the capacity crowd on their feet, in a raucous
party mode and in need of liquid relief from the Texas heat. The
thirsty crowd drained the venue’s beer sellers of over 3,000 gallons of
beer, forcing the vendors to call it a night only an hour and a half
into the show.
Best
known for their electrifying live show, in 2004 Ragweed opened
shows for ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Sammy Hagar, Jonny Lang, and Dierks
Bentley, among others. The band consistently sells out shows and
massive amounts of merchandise throughout the South, mid-south and
Southwestern part of the U.S. Signed to Nashville’s Universal
South Records (the joint venture between Universal Records and highly
respected music executives Tony Brown and Tim DuBois), Ragweed is
currently putting the finishing touches on their highly anticipated new
CD, scheduled for release later this year.
