Dallas Music Scence is Dying
Dallasmusic.com started in 1996 devoted to bringing atention to the
local music scence in Deep Ellum and the West End. Like the Hate
Ashbury, Deep Ellum grew starting with the artists and the musicians.
Tthen came the drugs and the corporate money, and soon a slow agonizing
death followed. The scenario has repeated itself time and time
again, but thanks to the help of Laura Miller and her inability to curb
gang violence and fraterinity rowdiness the music scene seems to be
taking an unforseeable ending to its downward spiral. The
clubs are clearing out faster than chickens in a fox infested hen
house. The few that are hanging on, The Double Wide, Tom Cats,
House of Blues, etc. are struggling at best. The corporate clubs,
Gilly's and other corporate clubs are no more than cocktail and brewsky
shopping malls for live entertainment. These establisments are
not here to support the local scene in any way and are doing more harm
than good. Dallasmusic.com in its continuing efforts to support
local music has followed the music scene into cowtown Fort Worth, TX
where the new musical explosion is happening. As we
dallasmuic.com and our sister e-zine ftworthmusic.com attempt to
quickly restructure our formats to follow the changing scenes we will
continue to follow original music whether in be in Ft. Worth, Dallas,
Denton, Arlington, or the Mid-Cities. Thank you for
suppporting local music through the complicated maze. Although
Deep Ellum may be dying, dallasmusic.com will continue to grow with the
times. We welcome new writers from all over the metroplex and ask
that bands and nightclubs alike continue to send us there dates.
Keep hope alive, "for we are the music makers and we are the dreamers
of dreams"- Willy Wonka.
