Hello Friends and Die Hards Everywhere:
Mean Gene Kelton here.
THE NEKKID BIKE RALLY IS HERE!!!!
But first, here are a few words about this past week. Wow!!! What a great week
this has been. Thanks to everyone who helped make this past week successful and
memorable. The highlight of the week was the show we did for the Hurricane
Katrina victims stranded at the Quality Inn in Baytown, Texas last Thursday
night.
TENT REVIVAL AT THE HOTEL
We performed in the banquet room of the hotel. Monica Marie, Tony Lee, Professor
Blues and Johnny McDonald were our special guests. It was a great time! Before
our show was over, several of the folks from Louisiana joined us onstage. They
were dancin', singin' and shoutin' the blues. It was the next best thing to an
old time tent revival.
This is what playing music is really all about. It is better than drugs, better
than alcohol and better than playing for money. Why? Because all week long,
people have been talking about our show there and what a great time they had.
When strangers come up and hug you with tears in their eyes saying "thank you
for taking us away from our troubles for a little while", that's when I know I
am doing what I was meant to do on this earth. Yes, I can truly say, "I Love My
Job"!
SEVENTH #1 SONG... AGAIN!!!
Speaking of "I Love My Job", our song, "I Love My Job", from the Mean Guitar CD,
it has hit #1 for the second month in a row on the Texas Top 40 Chart. That,
combined with all previous #1 spots, comes to a total of fifteen #1 positions
that we have hit on various charts in the past couple of years, that we know of.
We just play the song, "YOU", the public, make it a hit. Thanks you all!
