SCHOLA CANTORUM OF TEXAS SINGS THE WORKS OF FAURÉ AND DURUFLÉ IN FORT WORTH AND SOUTHLAKE CONCERTS ACCOMPANIED BY ORGANIST ROBERT MACDONALD

FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Schola Cantorum of Texas presents the works of Gabriel Fauré, Maurice Duruflé, Cèsar Franck, and Charles Marie Widor in two concerts scheduled for Sunday, March 6, 3:00 p.m. at Fort Worth’s First Presbyterian Church and Monday, March 7:30 p.m. at White’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Southlake.
Under the baton of musical director Donald Bailey, Schola! continues its 2004-05 season with the exquisite Fauré Requiem, programmed with the Four Motets of Duruflé, the Fauré Cantique de Jean Racine and Cèsar Franck’s Praise Ye the Lord (Psalm 150).  Robert MacDonald, organist/choir director at First Presbyterian Church, accompanies Schola! in these choral masterpieces.  In addition, MacDonald will be featured playing Charles Marie Widor’s Symphony V in both concerts.
This season marks Bailey’s fourth season with Schola Cantorum of Texas.  In addition to his responsibilities with Schola!, Dr. Bailey is the Director of Choral Activities and the Mary Gibbs Jones Professor of Music at Baylor University, where he conducts the A Cappella Choir and Chamber Singers and teaches choral conducting.  His choirs have sung for the American Choral Directors Association National Convention, as well as for the Texas Music Educators Association and the Music Educators National Conference.
Organist Robert MacDonald has been a Fort Worth resident since 1989, serving as organist/choir director at Fort Worth’s First Presbyterian Church.  With national reputation, MacDonald served as associate organist/choir director of the Riverside Church in New York, as director of music and organist at The Interchurch Center, also in New York, and as director of music and organist at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in Newark, New Jersey.  During his days in New York, he also held the position of staff organist at Radio City Music Hall.
