Live Review Gary Russo
Gary Russo made a good stand at Fogatas in
Fort Worth off I35 and Western Center.Blvd. For a one-man act
Gary
Russo makes a big sound. On this evening, playing with only a drum
machine and a guitar and some pretty slick vocals Gary laid
out a nice mix of Pop, Rock , Country and Tejano. Performing
songs from the 50's to to current radio cuts, the varity of music was
refreshing. Tunes such as "Wasted Days
and Wasted Nights", an American
country and pop song recorded by Freddy Fender, is a country standard
on any list. Gary also did a great rendition of " Evil
Ways"
by Santana, "Amarillo by Morning"
by
Terry Stafford and Paul Fraser, and recorded by
Stafford in 1973. Gary also did a soul
felt version of Johnny Cash's" Folsom Prison
Blues". Gary Russo's show has a real Branson feel to
it. It has a "dinner show" feeling minus the floorshow glitz
making it more Texas down home.
