Live Review Goodwin and Chatterton
A great night of live music at
club Broncos with
Chatterton opening the show with a tight
alt country sound playing ballads with an up tempo beat as front
man Kevin sang melodic lyrics. This gave a unique mix to
the music. Chatterton hosted 3
guitars, a lap
steel and keys which made for a very big sound.
Most of their tunes had a similar sound, which is not a bad thing; it
just means the band is developing a sound of their own.
Chatterton
ended their set with a rocker Rock
-N- Roll Will Never Die. I dug the lyrics " It's Better to burn
out than fade away ."
Next up to end the night Goodwin. This
band has been around for many years. They were originally called
Bendil. After a line up and sound change, we now have a much more
powerful and meaningful artistic group. Goodwin has grown and
developed into one of Dallas/Ft. Worth's best pop rock radio
bands. On this night they mixed their great hits off their
current CD like Matt's Letter and
also introduced several new songs which will be on their upcoming
CD. One that particularly caught my attention was titled Grace. The lyrics "I am
waiting" sung by lead singer Tony really left an emotional impact on
the crowd. Daniel on guitar was exceptionally hot this evening
with his signature style of playing a mixture of power chords and
leads. The guys also pulled off some incredible harmonies
displaying once again why they've earned the right to be called the
best pop rock band in DFW.
