Matt Sery – A More Perfect Union

A More Perfect Union, Matt Sery's second release on Riff Rat Records, is a diverse record, with songs ranging from the six and a half minute synth-filled ballad of Neptune, to the two minute noise collage Alien March. The album is full of musical talent from guitarist/singer Matthew Sery and other contributors such as guitarist /percussionist John "Ratso" Gerardi, drummer Richard Cook, bassist Scott Spray, keyboardist Fonda Feingold, percussionist Joe Boerst, and a host of background vocalists, but the most impressive thing about A More Perfect Union is Sery's lyrics. With lines such as "We live in a world of confessions/I'll admit my pain in truth/I wish to meet you by the ocean/Dive in a world made for Zeus/No illusions of grandeur/No wounds on your feet/Just a sanctuary/For the bold and the meek", each song is upbeat and catchy while still dealing with topics such as religion, relationships, and anger. I especially recommend I'm Not Angry and Neptune. If you enjoy Matt Sery, then check out his other band, The Spirit of 76, at www.TSO76.com for upcoming shows and other information.
