Songs for Sophie: A Collings
Collective
Songs for Sophie: A Collings Collective
was recorded by various artists to help a ten-year-old girl, Sophie
McCreary, who has been diagnosed with early onset bipolar
disorder. Sophie's father, Steve McCreary, is the general manager
of Collings Guitars, Inc. of Austin, Texas. All of the musicians
who have contributed to this project own and play Collings guitars and
mandolins. They all volunteered their time and talent to help
this family because of their huge respect for Steve and love of their
guitars. All proceeds of the CD sales go directly to help out
with the extreme costs of Sophie's care.
Songs for Sophie features some
very talented musicians and some of the best accoustic guitar music
I've heard in a while. It is very well done, but what would you
expect when a group of talented musicians get together and write and
play from their heart inspired by a man they respect dearly and his
adorable little girl. The album is comprised of 15 accousic
guitar, classical guitar, and mandolin songs, and there is not a bad
song among them. The $15 CD is worth every penny and then some,
but every purchase also helps this Ausin,TX family. I would
suggest buying one for yourself and one for anyone you know who enjoys
accoustic guitar music.
