Super Love Attack
@ Six Flags
2004

Here's a new band out of Denton that brings a melodic/space/rock sound to
the scene. The band is made up of Alex, Christy, Mark and Ryan. They haven't
been together very long, but I think in time they will be a solid band.

They started out with Mark, the guitarist, on vocals. He has a high pitched
singing style that caught my attention right off. The third song of the set
was by far my favorite. It was a nice little tune called "Gone". With lyrics
like "I've got tears, but I'm not sad" it was heartfelt and somber. I did
notice some crowd appreciation early in this song. It featured a nice
psychedelic intro by Christy on keyboards. Another song that received crowd
applause was "Desert Song". I appreciated the guitar effort by Mark on this
one. It came complete with a wailing vocal scream that really stood out.
"Starmice", in my opinion, showcased Alex, on drums, better than any other
song. The best effort by Ryan, on bass, came during the final song, "Alien".
This little number was a haunting melody with Mark weeping the lyrics and
Christy crying the backing vocals.

I was able to interview the band after the set. Here's how that went:

Boring, musical questions:
Q:What are your major influences?
The Band: "Cure, Oingo Boingo, The Pixies, My Bloody Valentine, Jesus
Lizards"
Q:How long have you played together?
The Band: "Since November."
Q:How many gigs have you had?
The Band: "About 15."
Q:What was the last CD you listened to?
Mark: "The new Spiritualize disc."
Christy: "Youths in Orbit."
Alex: "Some unpronounceable band from Slovenia"
Ryan: "AFI"
Q: Who sucks in music right now?
The Band: "Brittany, Justin, all corporate radio."
Q: What's the greatest moment you've had?
The Band: "A gig at the Curtain Club, with Youths in Orbit."
Q: How do you describe the band's sound?
The Band: "Rock/Pop/Jazz, similar to the Breeders or My Bloody Valentine,
some say The Pixies, basically just a hodgepodge."
Q: Who writes the songs?
Mark: "I do."

Fun, non-musical questions:
Q: Who would make the worst roommate?
The Band: "Ryan"
Q: Why?
The Band: "He sleeps a lot, lays around, doesn't smell so good, and has
fallen through a window before."
Q: Ryan, how did you fall through a window?
Ryan: "I tripped over a bean bag chair and tried to catch myself on the
window pane."
Q: Who gets the most dates?
The Band: Ryan
Q: Mark and Ryan, would you rather eat 100 of the worst thing you have ever
tasted, or make out with the ugliest person you can think of?
Mark and Ryan: "Make out"
Q: Christy, would you rather play Russian Roulette or run naked through a
crowded restaurant?
Christy: " Play Russian Roulette."
Q: Alex, would you rather watch a sibling have sex or have them watch you
have sex, if you had to choose?"
Alex: "I don't want either, but if I have to choose I'll say, them watch
me."
Q: Who would the band vote most likely to have the worst smelling feet?
The Band: "Ryan"
