The Skin Trade & Captured! By Robots

This show that played at Rubber Gloves was more than awesome! It was completely RAD!

The Skin Trade played one heck of a set with that “garage” style sound that people indicate it to be.  I go to shows to get my socks rocked off, and that’s what happened when I tuned into these characters.  This super group trio consists of Mike Melendi on guitar and vocals, Tommy Macaulay on bass, and John Clardy on the sticks.  Not only do these guys make your heart feel warm with their music, but it was even more heart felt when Tommy took those 4 strings on his heart shaped bass and blasted them in our effing face.  Really good music and togetherness, I would recommend taking time out of your busy, complicated, life and go to one of their shows and support the local scene.

The finale of the night was none other than Captured! By Robots.  This show he followed a theme that only the fittest could survive.  The work out theme (or should I say session) was by far exhilarating and fulfilling.  The show act started off with the “speed pyramid” which was JBOT’s dietary plan.  Before I get ahead of myself you have to know what the band consists of.  First of all this is a one man band that is backed with robots that play guitar, bass, percussion, horns, and sings as well.  JBOT would be the only human in the band that plays a guitar with a keyboard connected to it and sings as well.  If you want to get a more detailed explanation or look, check out http://www.capturedbyrobots.com/
Basically all the robots and JBOT were dress in 80’s type work out attire.  While the band was rocking the crowd there was video of old 80’s workouts being played.  It was nice.
A quote from someone at the show was “this has got to be in my top ten list of the weirdest things I have ever seen in my life” and I take weird oddities as being fun and adventurous, but some of you might not.  So if you aren’t into vulgar language, robots, and just pure fun then you aren’t hip enough to check out Captured! By Robots!
