CD Review
Theresa Andersson's
Latest album SHINE showed up this December on
Offbeat Magazine's "Top 50 albums of 2004"; it's an album that garnered
Andersson quite a bit of attention and opportunity throughout the year.
In addition to multiple accolades from her home town of New Orleans
(Andersson was the top selling artist at the Jazz and Heritage Festival
music store and was voted Best Rock Band by the Gambit Weekly), the
Swedish-born songbird toured non-stop throughout the U.S and recently
performed at London's Wembley Stadium for the prestigious Fender
Stratocaster 50th Anniversary Celebration. 2004 also marked Andersson's
film debut, with a performance in the Lifetime network original movie
"Infidelity," and then a cameo appearance in "The Brooke Ellison
Story," an A&E cable TV movie directed by Christopher Reeve. Along
with the cameo performance, The Brooke Ellison Story featured
Andersson's song "It's Gonna Be OK" (which was co-written by X-beau and
bandmate Anders Osborne).
Most recently, Andersson and fellow Big Easy musician Grayson Capps were in Hollywood for the premier of Lions Gate Films' "A Love Song for Bobby Long." The duo performs "Lorraine's Song (My Heart Was A Lonely Hunter)," which is the pivotal song in the film's plot. Both Andersson and Capps also make cameo appearances in the film, which stars Scarlett Johansson (who recently received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama) and John Travolta. Look for the film's soundtrack to be released in January on Hyena Records.
