Live Review Tomcats Battle of the Bands
Tomcats Battle of the Bands with Shamus
McNasty, Stealing Silence, Spacetime, Fist Engine, and Texas Death
Chamber- Saturday, January 29
Texas Death Chamber, the winner of
Tomcat's first Battle of the Bands, will compete against ten other
bands in the Battle of the Champions in December.
Shamus
McNasty, a ska/reggae band, was soooo fun! Everybody was dancing (some
of the girls were even getting a little freaky), and everyone was
having a great time- keep in mind that this was at 5 in the afternoon.
Oh, I definitely want to see these guys again! The crowd went crazy
over their songs, especially "Fatty Bassline." Even when the CD was
played after they performed, the girls came back out and started
dancing again.
Stealing
Silence put on one hell of a stage show! Straight out of Austin, this
raging nu metal band showed up in prison uniforms, and proceeded to
kick ass! Everyone loved them. They were all over the stage, full of
energy, and playing hard, heavy metal- just the way I like it!
I love Spacetime! These
guys are just plain awesome progressive/heavy metal. Even though they
are from Fort Worth, they still drew out about twenty people, all of
which were rocking out (as well as some of the other bands, and yours
truly!). The keyboards add a very artistic touch to the music, making
it more than just good metal, but quality art as well.
Though Fist Engine did
kick a lot of ass, their whole crowd was at Sluggfest that day. I'll
save their review for when they have a good crowd and can put on a good
show.
Texas Death Chamber
ROCKKED! The winner of this battle of the bands, they had a whole crowd
of boys AND girls moshing like crazy. In fact, they played well after 2
am, due to an overwhelming response by the crowd. Texas Death Chamber
is hard, Texas metal the way it was meant to be- hard, heavy, angry....
awesome!
