CD Review
Vladamir, Demo #2
FAVORITE QUOTES:
"When people look at you, they don't
see what I do."
"Run a-way, Run a-way, run away from
yourself." -song #2, "Runaway"
"I'll be there for you, no matter what
we go through." -song #4, "Road To Recovery"
GENRE: alternative with punk influences
This demo features the four songs from
the first demo that I loved so much, including "Runaway" and "Road To
Recovery," plus five completely new ones, with a few extra styles
(including a rap in one song and a soliliquoy in another) added in to
their pop-alternative, love-sick music... kind of like punk love songs.
The fast beats make it sound punk, but the gentleness in singer John's
voice make it alternative- no doubt about it. Almost all of the songs
are about a girl- it's these high school-age kids' way of expressing
how they feel about a certain someone (and all the crap that certain
someone puts them through). He unabashadly reveals his true feelings-
what he couldn't say to her before, he sings to her now in song. Take
song #5, "Caroline," - I wonder if that song got him out of trouble?
Anyway, I love their sound, except that it echoes throughout every
song. I'm not trying to come down on the band- but since they're so
good at doing what they're currently doing (after all, they are playing
Deep Ellum clubs they're probably not old enough to be in! As a matter
of fact, you can see them at the clubs Dallasmusic.com is booking-
Tomcats Deep Ellum and Division 1 in Arlington), I just wonder how well
they would do if they tried something else? Something... different.
