Grand re-opening of Dreamworld Music Complex
Live Review

The grand re-opening of Dreamworld Music Complex was a  blast!  Of course, how could it not be with a line up like Love vs Hate, Canvas, Little Green Men, Jack be Quick, One Up, and Pimpedelic.  As you walk in, the place looks basically the same.  There was fresh paint on the walls.  The addition of tables, chairs, and pool tables was great bonus.  The addition of a full bar is still in progress.  Unfortunately, this will mean the once all ages venue will have to go 18 and up in accordance with Arlington law, but booking and promotions manager Shannon Culwell say she will do everything she can to keep the venue all ages as much as she can.  She plans to cater to all types of music from country and western to heavy metal.
The night opened with Love vs Hate, a fairly new but kick ass band from Arlington.  The sexy female singer had tons of energy and a powerful voice making her fun to watch as well as to listen to.  I was shocked to hear that they've only been around since April.  This band will be hitting the DFW music scene hard with a whole new genre of music they've dubbed "heavy prog (progressive) pop" which I thought described in perfectly.  Check the out at www.lovevshate.net.
cansingThe second band to grace the stage was Austin based band Canvas.  These guys were phenomenal!  They originally stated in San Francisco sever years ago by lead singer Joseph King,  but he is the only remaining original member.  He moved to Austin and kept the band going with a new group of musicians about five years ago.                                                                                                      cangtrThey are now working on their third album and are awesome!  The music was very trancy, almost tribal, with great harmonies.  They're almost like a heavier
version of the Doors.  Even though they are based in Austin, they play Dallas fairly often.  Keep an eye out on
 canbass
www.canvas-online.com for their next show in the area.  They are well worth seeing.
Following them was Little Green Men.  These guys are unmistakable.  You just can't miss the huge inflatable alien on stage.
lgm   I had seen them once before on Memorial Day weekend at Joe Pool Lake.  They were good then, but they've gotten better.  They've just released their new CD Supernova, and the new stuff rocks! I also loved the back and forth battle between guitarist Andrew and vocalist Kevin.  Kevin's voice could match just about everything Andrew could throw at him including effects.  It was awesome!  Lots of laughs.
I didn't stay for the rest of the evening, but as I was leaving it sounded like Jack be quick was getting off to a very good start.
jbqc    They sported a painted cow skull on one of their mic stands.           jbq                    All in all the evening rocked!  If Dreamworld plans to keep up this caliber of musicianship it sounds like you just can't loose there.  Stop by any time you want to have a rockin' night out!
