When I first put Wendy
Daniels' debut CD On the Right Track
into my CD
player I thought it could have been straight off the Pulp Fiction soundtrack. The
first track "On the Right Track" bears a striking resemblance to
"C'est la Vie" from the famous twist scene. This isn't to say
it's not a good song. It's a great song. It's every bit as
catchy as the famous twist song. You're just thinking the whole
time that you've heard it before. As it turns out, the first
track
doesn't really fit the rest of the CD. As the album played
on I began to think, "Wow! It's the second coming of Loretta
Lynn." The writing style is similar as well as the low, sweet
soothing voice. This album is definitely country & western.
It seemed like every other song is a break up song followed by a love
song. It's perfect for someone who has a hard time staying
in a long term relationship. There's not a bad song on it, but go
figure since she has been writing since she was twelve and had nearly a
hundred songs to her name to choose from. I'm sure she's ready to
throw out five more albums just as good. According to her
"My songs are my babies, and you can't give birth to them all at once”!
I really enjoyed track four "After the Rain" which basically is about
new hope and finding love again. The last track "How's Heaven"
will bring tears to your eyes. If you've ever lost someone
special, or even if you haven't it's a great song.
In addition to being a fantastic
singer and songwriter, Wendy has also done some theatre as well as some
TV work as an anchor personality for
TV 69 in Atlanta, Georgia as well as commercials for Burger King
and Wendy's!
